点评:So much to see and learn here. The building itself is architecturally very interesting and its location in the pines along a creek with hiking trails out behind immediately puts you into a positive mood. The bright yellow metal sculpture immediately catches your eye. Inside the first thing you see is a full size dinosaur skeleton. With rooms full of history, archeology, geology, culture, and pottery there is something for everyone. The big room of Native American Nations is very well done and provides some excellent perspectives of many different people. I especially enjoyed the special exhibits, on the art and history of Kachinas, on the evolution and history of Route 66 for its 100th anniversary, and especially the Call of the Colorado Plateau exhibit. It was a fascinating combination of sights, sounds, smells, and lighting that begged visitors to just sit and take it in. The life zones exhibit of plant life at different elevations in the region in the interior courtyard was also very interesting. In addition to all that the museum shows, the history of the researchers and all they have contributed to our understanding of the art, culture, geography, archeology, and geology of the region is inspiring. Plan more time than you expect and dont go when you're tired in the afternoon.
