点评：Dimmuborgir is an interesting area to explore, with an easy and enjoyable stroll amongst some remarkable lava formations. Having a knowledgeable guide made a real difference, as understanding how these unusual structures were formed added considerably to the experience.
The midges were still around, although perhaps only about 50% as bad as we experienced at Lake Mývatn! I would still strongly recommend bringing insect repellent and a head net so they don’t spoil the walk.
I particularly enjoyed having a guide explain the geology and history along the way. You can certainly walk around independently, but I feel the guided narrative makes the unusual landscape much more meaningful.
We finished with a lovely two-course lunch, including supposedly locally caught fresh fish, which was delicious and a very pleasant surprise.
One practical point: there is a fee to use the toilets, so be prepared for that.
Overall, a very enjoyable visit combining unusual Icelandic scenery, an informative walk and an excellent lunch.
