One of our most memorable wine tastings in Piedmont

点评：My wife and I visited Azienda Agricola Conterno Fantino while staying at La Ribezza, which is just next door. The producer had been recommended to us by the hotel, and it turned out to be one of the best wine tastings we have experienced.
We were welcomed by Amber, a young and very friendly guide who immediately made the visit feel personal rather than routine. The experience started with a tour of the production area and the wine cellar, where the rows of barrels and large wooden casks gave a real sense of the work behind the wines. After that, we moved to the tasting room, which has a wonderful view over Monforte d’Alba.
During the tasting we tried eight wines from the producer. We have been to wine tastings in several parts of the world, but what made this visit stand out was Amber. She was knowledgeable, engaged and genuinely good at explaining the wines without making the experience feel formal or difficult. The tasting felt relaxed, informative and memorable.
What could be improved: very little from our visit. The main practical point is that this is not the kind of experience I would leave to chance.
Final verdict: a clear five-star wine tasting for us, mainly because of the combination of excellent wines, a beautiful setting and a guide who made the visit feel special.
If you go: book in advance. It is well worth planning this visit properly, especially if you are staying nearby in Monforte d’Alba.
