Disappointing visit
Kynren的点评
点评：I visited Kynren with high hopes and to say that this was a disappointment was an understatement. We attended the storied lands which I believe have opened as a new attraction from 2026, therefore I cannot comment on the night show that is performance.
Firstly, the parking was £18.00 for the day. When we went, there was hardly anyone there, of which I cannot understand how they are able to charge that price for parking. Parking was on grass, no marked bays and was literally in a field on site. The cost of that was a disgrace.
We selected the 10:15 arrival slot and naturally to ensure that we did not miss anything, we arrived earlier than this. We then find that our schedule lists our first performance at 11:30. This wouldn’t have been too bad if there was actually something else to do in the park but, the Victorian Imaginarium was a preview and consisted of a sweet shop and some gardens.
The Viking Settlement area had about 4 homes, a couple of donkeys and an iron forge, it was very small and did not quite offer what I thought there would be or was as big as expected. Other than these, there are a few seating areas with some small food places but there was absolutely nothing else to do.
Our 11:30 show was The Lost Feather which was a show for birds of prey and was enjoyable. After this, we had another massive wait as the next scheduled show wasn’t until 13:55. We had some food, and then proceeded to wait around, incredibly bored, until the next show.
The 13:55 show was The Legend of the Wear. The show was completed basically by playing a CD with a voiceover with the same voices, so at times it was difficult to understand who was actually the main character in the performance. I didn’t find this very entertaining and other than the jumps from building to building, was basically a GCSE Drama performance.
The next show was at 15:00, which was The Trusty Steed, same issue with the voiceover performances, but this did have jousting. The performance was very lacklustre from the acting staff, but the members of staff on the horses completing the jousting and the tricks were good at what they did and this part was enjoyable.
After this, with the amount of waiting around, we decided that enough was enough and left. Considering we spent £18.00 for parking, £30.00 per person for a ticket and also went home with back ache due to the unsupportive seating throughout the site. The worst seating was by far at The Lost Feather, where the seating was incredibly uncomfortable, uneven and had no backrests. This wouldn’t have been an issue if it wasn’t for the fact that most seating at the site is of this nature.
A couple of tips for people:
Attend prepared as there is no cover if it rains.
If you are looking for something fast paced and interactive, this won’t be for you and is way too slow.
Don’t expect anything other than that performances, because that’s basically all there is.
Overall assessment, Kynren was not worth the money for the tickets or parking and I likely won’t be making any efforts to return.
