点评：My vocabulary is insufficient to describe what a fabulous experience we had here. It's similar to Colonial Williamsburg or Harper's Ferry in that the buildings provide the historical focal points, but it is SO MUCH more than either of those places. Many of the buildings are open to tour (self-guided except for Tuesdays). Some have exhibits; some are set up to reflect a specific family or time period. Some have docents, and some have people in character as they would be at the point in time they would've lived/worked there. One home had half set up as it was when a wealthy merchant lived there in the late 1700s/early 1800s, with the other half as it was when a lower-income family lived there in the same house in the 1950s. One home was restored to post-Depression pre-WWI (even though the home was built a century or more earlier), and had information provided directly from the woman who lived there as a child. Another building had interactive spinning and looming with a docent. Absolutely fascinating! The admission fee seems high at $25 per person, but it is totally worth it! The only thing I would like to see in the future of this fantastic place is an on-site operating tavern!
