点评:I saw a pair of shoes in the window that I really liked, clearly marked at €165. After trying them on, I decided to purchase them. The sales assistant was lovely and very helpful with sizing and generally made the experience pleasant.
Unfortunately, the woman managing the till was extremely rude and abrupt, which was particularly disappointing given how friendly the sales assistant had been. After leaving the store, I noticed that I had actually been charged €195.
It wasn’t about the €30 difference, but as we happened to be walking past the store again, I decided to pop in and politely clarify the pricing, as the shoes had clearly been displayed in the window at €165.
I discreetly explained the situation, but rather than acknowledging the confusion, she proceeded to quote numbers at me in Italian and point out the €195 price underneath the shoe. I explained that I understood that was the price on the shoe, but that the €165 price in the window was misleading and perhaps should be corrected.
Unfortunately, there was no apology or attempt to acknowledge the confusion—just an uncomfortable and unnecessarily unpleasant interaction.
It’s a shame, because the shoes were lovely and the sales assistant had been so helpful. Florence has an incredible amount of choice, so it’s certainly not a major issue for me. I’ll simply choose to shop elsewhere in future.
