点评：This is a big place (19 acres) to explore with both indoor and outdoor exhibits. Fortunately, your ticket is good for two days, so you don't have to try to cram it all in at once. We enjoyed the large and well-stocked museum shop and the chance to either skim or deep dive into maritime history along the eastern shore. Exhibits are made more interesting by tying the shipbuilding and oystering/crabbing industries to human experiences. If you love boats, this is the spot for you! But there's also a very interesting exhibit that traces the carvers and history of duck decoys, which we found surprisingly fascinating. Staff here are very helpful in pointing you in the direction of things you'd like to see. Outside on the grounds, you can step inside a full-size crabber's shanty and get a feel for the tools associated with harvesting local seafood. One outdoor exhibit was just a rope tied to a piling with a sign inviting people to fish for a crab. Laughing, I pulled gently on the rope, expecting nothing but got a big surprise when a huge crab popped out of the water and started to climb the rope! Yikes. I felt relieved when it slipped back into the water! We enjoyed this experience, but there was one drawback that we pointed out to staff. CBMM is advertised as accessible but it's not fully accessible. A ramp outside the main building leads to other buildings and outdoor exhibits, but the ground in between those exhibits is covered by either crushed stone or grass over bumpy ground. We gave up trying to push a wheelchair over those areas. If you can make it to the shoreline, there's more to see, but getting there in a wheelchair is not possible. We mentioned this to staff who said they were aware and that changes are coming. Meantime, they offered to refund our tickets. We thanked them for the offer but did not ask for a refund. Husband is able to ambulate for brief periods with one leg in a cast, so we managed, but if you or someone in your party can't ambulate in that way, we think you will be disappointed. We enjoyed our visit here and learned that the CBMM is expanding and improving all the time, so would likely visit again.
