A picturesque working beach with lots of room fir beach goers
Beer Beach的点评
点评：Wednesday 22nd of July we visited this picturesque beach located along the Jurassic Coast.
The beach comprises of shingle and pepples and stretches along the coast for about 400 metres. The crescent shaped beach is sheltered at both ends by the white limestone cliffs within Lyme Bay.
This is a working beach where the fishingmen and their boats share the beach with tourists and holiday makers.
It was a glorious summer's day as we walked down the steep hill to the beach. On the way down we passed the renowned Beer Fisheries.
There were a number of fishing boats and associated equipment and machinery lined up on the shingle.
A series of slatted wooden pathways were across the pebbles leading to and from the sea.
We made our way down to the waterside where we sat on the pebbles and soaked up the atmosphere and enjoyed the surrounding scenery.
Some visitors took advantage of the deck chairs, sunbeds and beach huts that were available to hire. While others spread out the beach mats and towels on the beach.
A number of temporary pontoons were at the waterfront, which were used as launches for boat tours and fishing trips.
Due to the hot weather a lot of beach goes had made their way in to the sea to cool off . Others were bit more energetic and took to the waters on paddleboards, kayaks, inflatables and other items. There were some fishing off permitted areas off the Beach.
There were a couple of cafes along the beach providing refreshments and food.
For us It was a bit surreal sitting on the beach beach looking at the limestone cliffs that form part of the coastline where the beach is. Earlier in the day we visited the Beer Quarry Caves and we were actually inside the cliffs
