点评:Visiting the Alaska Native Heritage Center was one of the most inspirational and meaningful experiences of my trip. Our narrator, Yaari, welcomed us with such warmth and shared her culture and history with sincerity, knowledge, and compassion.
I was deeply moved as she explained how Native children, some as young as five years old, were taken from their families and sent to boarding schools in an attempt to erase their language and culture. Her powerful words—when you lose your language, you lose part of who you are—stayed with me.
Although parts of the history were heartbreaking, Yaari’s presentation was also a beautiful testimony to the strength, resilience, and survival of Alaska Native people and their traditions. She made the experience feel personal rather than simply educational. I left with greater understanding, respect, and appreciation. Thank you, Yaari, for sharing your knowledge and making my visit so warm, memorable, and inspiring.
