点评:Confusing setup and if you don’t have a combo ticket, a pricey admission to see everything here. The actual site of the original Jamestown fort is not owned by the National Park service.
However, most of the land surrounding the fort and the access to get to the fort is owned by the National Park Service.
Bottom line is you get charged twice here. Once by the National Park Service for $15/adult (children are free) and once by an entity called “Jamestown Rediscovery” for $15/$5. Therefore, to see everything here, costs a whopping $30/adult.
The way to get around all this is to buy the combo ticket and get into all of the Jamestown and Yorktown sites at a discounted price.
Found the actual Jamestown site underwhelming. There isn’t much here except outlines of where buildings used to be and a memorial that looks like a mini Washington Monument.
Jamestown rediscovery portion had dig sites but they were all covered up and no one was working them on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. There is also an archaeological museum in the Jamestown Rediscovery area. The national park museum isn’t very interesting and could use a renovation.
Best part about this place is the boardwalk that leads from the visitors center to the memorial and goes over a swampy area. Saw tons of turtles, including two snapping turtles, and a muskrat.
