"Secret Beach" at Tigertail

点评：We went to Tigertail Beach on 3/26/26 and crossed the lagoon to reach the beach. It feels like a secret beach and you feel like you are on a bit of an adventure. We went about 2 hours before low tide. I highly recommend checking the tide charts otherwise the lagoon could be too deep to comfortably cross. It was between knee high and thigh high when we went. We parked for $10 in the Tigertail beach parking lot, and parked in the smaller lot closest to the playground. You pay using your phone and a credit card. There wasn't an option for apple pay. This is your last chance at running water and a bathroom. Proceed down the wood pathway toward the Wildlife Viewing Tower and walk to the water's edge. This is the best place to cross the lagoon. It has a sandy bottom and fresh water and you can clearly see where the submerged sandbar is. Follow it across to the small sandy shore on the other side of the lagoon and go to the sandy spot to the right of the clump of mangroves. You will see a skinny, well-beaten path that cuts through the mangroves to the beach and ocean. Make note of where you come out of the mangroves on to the beach so you can find the path back at the end of your adventure. Head north (take a right) on the beach and walk way up around the bend until you see Coconut Island across the water. You will be able to see where the sandbar is out in about knee deep water. That's the best place for shelling and finding sand dollars. Bring water, sunscreen, a towel, a shelling bag, and a shell scoop. We were happy to have our crocs in "sport mode" for the walk through the mangroves and up the beach. The beach was pretty quiet, much less crowded than Tigertail near the Towers and much less crowded than South Beach.
