Travelled, as a 67 year old couple, everywhere except the Musandam (due to Trump) from Muscat, Sohar, Jebel Shams, Akhdar, Sur, Duqm, Empty Quarter and Salalah on 4,300 Km of roads and tracks of Oman on the Panorama Travel 16 day 'in the footsteps of explorers'. I had worked in Oman from 1986 -1989 before real tourism existed. Oman is still beautiful, although now highly developed, with roads and towns that did not exist 40 years ago. Our guide and company owner 'Badar' has encyclopedic knowledge of the country, its history and wildlife and speaks excelled English. A wonderful experience in a very safe and welcoming country. If you want the fully immersive experience, use Panorama Travel. If you want to sit by the swimming pool for half the day, and see a fraction of the country, then use someone else.
