点评:As a returning visitor on my 3rd trip to Kota Kinabalu, I am deeply disappointed by the lack of management and oversight at the new Jesselton Point terminal.
Buying tickets from the official counters no longer guarantees fairness or safety from scams. On Sept 15, we bought tickets at the official counter and were assigned to operator A6 (Swaniibu). At registration, the operator arbitrarily demanded an EXTRA RM10 per person to rent life jackets, stating we would be refused boarding if we didn’t pay cash on the spot.
When we brought this extortionate demand to the official terminal staff, they completely washed their hands of the issue. They offered zero enforcement against the rogue operator, telling us our only option was to wait hours for another boat or take a refund. We ended up taking a refund and going to DBKK Jetty instead.
It is unacceptable that terminal management permits private operators to enforce unauthorized, forced charges right under their nose. Official counters are completely unregulated. Extremely poor management—tourists beware!
